It would be good to establish the location, my guess is Hove Station, as it looks very similar, not exactly matching, but perhaps there have been modifications since then!
Or perhaps Kemp Town Station?
What a great picture, Angela! That’s Portslade Station, which hasn’t really changed except for the removal of the canopy and fence.

I agree with Janet; it’s south side of Portslade Station. You can even see how the forecourt is higher than the pavement in front of the fence. Also, don’t forget that this is still a bus terminus for some routes today.
Nice old photo. Not absolutely certain but I`m sure the bus in the photograph is a Milnes-Daimler CD 447 one of a large batch of buses purchased by “Brighton Hove and Preston United Omnibus Co Ltd” (BHPU) 1905-6 these new buses would eventually replace the horse buses. This particular bus looks relatively new and would be operating Service 1 Portslade Station to Kemp Town (Sussex Square) via New Church Road, Church Road, Western Road, North Street, Castle Square, St James’s Street and St Georges Road.
I have a number of photographs of my Great Grandad and Grandad with horses from the bus co. Also driving a variety of horse drawn and petrol driven buses.
I would like to try and date them more accurately as looking at some I now think they are earlier than I thought. Some were very helpful with Annual Police Outing 1913 written on them.
Any pointers as to where I could look would be great. Many thanks.
