Life saving equipment in Rottingdean

Collaborative funding

Life-saving equipment has been installed in the centre of Rottingdean. The newly installed defibrillator was officially launched by the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Cllr Lynda Hyde on Sunday 13th September.  She was joined by representatives of the Lions, Parish Council and Village Fair Committee. This was a collaborative project funded by contributions from the Rottingdean Parish Council, Rottingdean and Saltdean Lions and the Village Fair.

Heart defibrillator

A defibrillator – which is used to treat cardiac problems and can jump start a stopped heart – is now operational in a cabinet on the front wall of the Village Public Hall, Park Road in Rottingdean. The procedure for use is if a heart attack is suspected a 999 ambulance call should be made. The symptoms should be described and an ambulance/paramedic requested. The ambulance service will provide the code to open the defibrillator cabinet via a keyboard on the front of the cabinet. When opened the machine gives simple instructions for use.
