Stoneham Park Centenary Festival 2013

Originally the land on which Stoneham Park was created was owned by the Duke of Portland. It was a gravel pit and the Duke kept pigs there, hence ‘stone’ and ‘ham’.

The Duke gave the land as an open space for the people of Hove for recreation. This week the local community celebrated Stoneham Park’s 100th Birthday at its special Centenary Festival which was attended by the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Denise Cobb.
