Where was this photo taken?

Can anyone identify where this photograph was taken?  The main subject matter is probably an outing of a Brighton boy’s orphanage at the end of the First World War, or possible a little later – the Land For Sale notice at the back is the only clue.  It is faintly possible that the area was in what is now Hollingdean?

  • Do you know which orphanage it was and where it was located?

  • Interestingly the Goldstone ground was leased from the Stanford Estate by Clark of Clark’s Bakery. There is a chance therefore that this photo was taken at the perimeter of the Goldstone Ground (north-east corner with Old Shoreham Road?).
