Photographed in 1964
This photograph of Palace Pier was taken from Dalton’s Beach in mid 1964. At that time it still had the theatre at the end of the pier. I remember my Father taking me to see a show Easter 1939.
I still miss Brighton very much, having moved away in 1964. But we still visit for a couple of days or so at least two or three times a year. Sadly, the Brighton of today is very changed from the place I remember with affection.
One fond memory I have, is of my sisters skating on the pavement near Volks railway, and their being chased by a policeman on horseback, because you were not allowed to do so. Funny the things you remember.
