Keepsake from the glory days

From the private collection of Councillor Ken Norman

Those were the days

When Councillor Ken Norman saw our slideshow of the gradual destruction of the famous and once glorious West Pier, it reminded him of an old keepsake he had forgotten.

Did you see any of these shows? Do you remember any concerts? Please share your memories by posting below

The photograph here shows West Pier Concert Hall tickets he collected when he visited the pier for an official viewing with his wife, Councillor Ann Norman, probably in the early 2000s. The tickets are in ‘old money’ so pre-decimalisation days.

The West Pier was completely closed to the public in 1975 because of important safety issues. However, guided tours were allowed previously and if you look here you will see some of the last photographs to be taken on the pier.
