Scooter rally and fun day

Fun at Hove Lawns
The Wheelie Great Scooter Rally and fun day was held this weekend at Hove Lawns. Organised by Age Concern Brighton Hove & Portslade and Sussex Safer Roads Partnership, the event was officially opened by The Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Geoff and Mrs Sally Wells.
The Mayor, assisted by Mr Peter Otto from Age Concern, and watched by the Mayoress and local MPs Simon Kirby and Mike Weatherly, starts the fun

A fun day for all
The host for the day was Guy Lloyd from Juice107.2 Breakfast Show. There was a lot to see and fun activities for kids. The ‘Red Wheelies’ (think Red Arrows) displayed their mobility scooter skills, to raise money for their new MS therapy centre and there was an impressive display of wheelchair dancing.
Raising awareness
Apart from providing a fun day for all, the event was intended to raise awareness of safety for mobility scooters and road users. Jim Baker, Director of Age Concern Brighton Hove & Portslade said: ‘We want everyone to have fun while also highlighting the importance of how inclusive Brighton can be transport-wise, despite it’s sometimes congested roads.’
