School Badge

This was the school badge of St John the Baptist junior school, and St John the Baptist secondary school, from the 1950s to the 1960s.

It has a Latin inscription ” Credo ut intelligam” which, translated, means “I believe so that I may understand”. This was the maxim of St Anselm of Canterbury who was Archbishop of Canterbury from 1093 to 1109.
