How to be happier and healthier

Over 400 local people found out how to be happier and healthier in 2011 at a free, one-day health event at the Friends’ Meeting House. The free health day brought together health-related services from across the city to provide wide-ranging advice on topics ranging from healthy eating, to safer drinking and better mental health. The Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Geoffrey Wells and Mayoress Mrs Sally Wells, paid a visit to the event, spending time finding out about each service

Free advice and taster sessions

There was free health advice covering areas such as smoking, cancer, safer sex, nutrition and alcohol, and free acupuncture, yoga and meditation classes were fully booked. Jane Scott-Bromley from CRI said: “There is so much that people can do to improve their own health and wellbeing, whether by taking more exercise and improving their diet or taking up a new activity. This free health event provided a wealth of ideas to help people take control and improve their health in 2011.  The day has been a great success”.
