• Wow! I remember it very well as I married my wife Jeannette from Hartington Road on the 26th Jan 1963. I was sweating on getting to St Wilfred’s church from Portslade. We made it by taxi but it was freezing in that big church for the ceremony,we were both shivering as we took our vows. We are still going strong so it was worth it!

• I think it’s near the bottom of Elm Grove. On the right about halfway up you can just see part of St Joseph’s school in Milton Road.

• This is great, I remember walking home form St Luke’s School to Islingword Street in the snow, we had just come from Canada so it made me feel like home. My mother used to work at the Diamond Bar in the back of Woolworths in Western Road, she arrived home looking like a snowman

• This is just below Milton Road, near the bottom of Elm Grove. I grew up not far from Homewood stores and I recently found out my husband is distantly related to them but no, it wasn’t my shop. Sad to see it’s no longer there though.

• I remember walking home from Fitzherbert school in Woodingdean with my friend Peter Bruzes who lived in Islingwood St I lived in May Rd.

• My mum, Eileen Howell, of Bernard Road, fell over while pregnant with me when walking up Elm Grove this winter. I was born in February, alive luckily, so all good!

• I was born in Brighton but left in 1964. Not my choice. I absolutely loved it. I’m 75 now but still think about it. I remember the bad winter. I live in Derby now. Retired but trained to be a teacher and later lectured at University. Still love you Brighton.
