Brighton Sheet Metal: centenary celebrations
By Jennifer Drury
Successful manufacturing industry
Nowadays the south east of England is not known for its manufacturing industry, so to find a successful engineering company here in Sussex is unusual, to find a privately owned one more so, but to find one celebrating its centenary must be a record.
Started in St James's Street
Brighton Sheet Metal started in premises in the St James’s Street, Devonshire Place area; it is now based in Lower Bevendean and employs over one hundred people. The company prides itself on its high level of long serving employess and over the years has employed many generations of the same local families.
A happy event
This week the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Anne Meadows and her consort, husband Tony Meadows, visited Brighton Sheet Metal to congratulate them on their centenary and join in the celebration of such a happy event.
