St Lukes School

1960s class photos
By Christina Mitchell (Nee Laycock)
School hasn't changed much

I have just been to a St Lukes School reunion with Celia Randall - last time we were there was the day we left in July 1966!  Strangely it hasnt changed much inside or out, still has those green ceramic tiles on the walls, huge draughty windows, high ceilings.  The hall with the WW1 mural really brought back memories.

School re-unions

For any ex-St Lukes pupils it's definitely worth making the effort to attend - there were only 4 of us from the 1966 leavers so it would be great to see some more of you next time.

Editor's note: Maybe if you could post the contact details of the ex-pupils association, and let others know about re-unions, you will get a better response.

Great photo. I went to St Lukes up until 1966 then moved across to Westdene County primary in 67. I would be interested to see if there are any more photos from this year in the school archives. I used to live in Albion Hill next door to Susan White. We were in numbers 57 and 59. Great memories of that time, good to see some photos are still around.

I was amazed to see some of my old classmates in these photos, I was in class 1A with Miss Back as our teacher. I am fourth from the left, Rodney Chamberlain, in class 2A I am in the middle sixth from the left. The following year I had a lot of emotional problems at home, the teachers did not understand what was going on in my life and I was put into class 3B. Today, after traveling the world, I live in Brampton, Canada. I have only the best of memories from St Luke's and the wonderful classmates I had there. I would also like to see a contact list of ex-pupils and would like to know how to get my contact information to them.
