Coombe Road Primary School

Class 6 - 1953

Attended from 1952-1959

I went to Coombe Road School from September 1952 until July 1959. At the time I lived in Manton Road, Bevendean and I had to walk up Jacob's Ladder everyday to get to school. I still remember the names of all my teachers during those years, starting with Miss Connolly, Miss Ridley, Mr Roberts, Miss Grant, Miss York, Miss Walters, and I think Mr Lloyd was the Junior School Headmaster.

Some classmates I remember

I recognise some of the names of my class mates in this photograph of Miss Connolly's Class 6 of 1953. I am in the back row second from the right, I believe Peter Skinner is standing next to me third from the right and I think Johnny Grimes is first from the left with Trevor Jones standing next to him.The only girl I recognise is Brenda Miles who I think is in the centre of the front row.
