On one of my birthdays - probably around 1995 - I had the privilege of being given as a present a half-day footplate course at the Severn Valley Railway. When I arrived at the sheds at Bewdley I found that the rostered ex-GWR "Hall" had failed and in its place was one of these "Brighton Tanks" as they're still universally known. I remarked that the loco and I had been born in the same place and at about the same time. It was a delight to fire and to drive and a great day was had. I still treasure the photos.
