After rummaging through some old photos I found this photo of pupils at St Michaels which must have been taken around 1956.
Martin Nimmo and others will no doubt recognise themselves and fellow pupils. I’m front row 4th from the left.

I don’t seem to be in this photograph, and only (at this distance of time!) recognise a handful of boys: Nigel Speight (2 from L front row), Andrew Mallin-Jones (3 from l), David Griffiths himself (4 from L), ? Tony Davey (3 from R); then Roger Buxton (middle Row 2 from L), Terenec Shakeshaft (3 from L), ? Paul Paton (3 from R); Back Row Edward Waller (2 from L), ? John Kennard (3 from R).
I’ve spotted two more! Front row, left end, possibly Jeremy Gates, and on David Griffiths’ left, John Tarling.
This is fascinating! I think Keith Best may be the boy sitting second from the right (front row) and Anthony Elsey may be the boy in the middle of the second row, fourth from the right. I’m happy to be corrected!
John Tarling is my father and that’s him, 4th from the right!
Definitely Jeremy Gates front left bottom row. Odd – I should have been there?
My brother Jeremy Gates is indeed first row far left and Keith Best is first row 2nd from right. But don’t think it is Paul Payton in this photo.
I think that the boy who is last but one on the right is Huntley Russell-Taylor.
