  • This photo was taken either late l956 or early 1957. I am seated 2nd from left in dark jumper. The teacher is Mrs. Thurmer. .

  • I am at extreme left, top row.

  • I am third from left in the back row. My sister Maureen is second left in the middle row. Glenn is in the middle of the back row, and Raymond Murphy is to his left. Ho humm, happy times. (Although not always!)

  • I was in this class but am not in the photo – maybe I was away on that day. I recognise Susan McCarran, John Flynn, Yanina Merta and Mrs Thurmer. Geraldine Adams.

  • I recall your name ‘Geraldine Adams’ but can’t remember your face; shame you are not in the photo. Have you seen the First Communion picture I put in, taken about ’53 or ’54 at St. Anne’s Convent; you may be in that one.

    By Patricia Lawrance (11/12/2012)
  • Geraldine, I should have said that the First Communion photo I put in was on the ‘Friends Reunited’ site.

  • I can remember the photos being taken, I was in another class but can remember some of the faces in the photo, not the names; too far back! Can remember some of the teachers, also some of the children at the school came from an orphanage or similar run by nuns, I think. I knew most of them, one girl who I knew well was Willimener Smith. Can’t believe its 58 years!

  • Hello everyone. My granddad, Rory McDonnell, has been talking a lot about his past, and I have decided to look into it. He said he went to this school in this year, but is missing from the picture. I was wondering if anyone could help me with any past information on him. He also mentions boxing a lot, and I was wondering if he boxed here. Please reply! Rosie McDonnell

  • What year was your grandad born to give an idea of his age and what class he was in.  There is also another photo of a Mary Magdalene class which he may be in; I don’t know if you have seen it.  His name does sound familiar.

  • My dad said he was born in 1947, and my Granddad said he definately knows this teacher and named her even before I told him the name. Was there a boxing club at the school for a bit?  He has nine siblings, some of which you may know or recognise. The names are: Noel McDonnell, Leo McDonnell, Eugine McDonnell etc! – If anyone has any more pictures with my granddad in, or has anything they can share about him, please let me know, and thank you Patrick for getting back to me!

  • I was born end of August 1946, so your Grandad, Rosie, would have been in the class below us in this photo. I do have a vague recollection of a boxing club but probably the boys would have more knowledge of this. Pat

  • Top row 2nd from left is Ron Lloyd, 1st one sitting on floor is Mervyn Shepherd? Boy between me & John Flynn – his surname I think was Funnell.

    By Glenn Rodrigues (04/07/2014)
  • I remember faces from this photo, many memories!  I recognise John Flynn, Mervyn Shepherd, Roy McNaughton, Mervyn Shepherd, Rosalie Harvey, Leonora Watson, Susan McCarron, Maureen Flynn and I did know Eugene McDonnell but can’t remember his face.  Which one is Glen Rodrigues?

  • Seated at the front on the left is my friend from St Michaels Place Mervyn Shepherd ( I may have spelt his name wrong). He lived in a basement flat with his parents and his two sisters Rita and Betty (sadly I think Rita died at the level). With regard to the boxing at the school Both Mervyn and I boxed , (me at Stanford Road), They were an Irish family and were well liked.
    Last saw Mervyn in 1968/69.

  • I am seated 1st seat on the right as you look at the photo (dark jumper, grey skirt) I think it’s Janice Christianson sitting the other end. I was scared stiff of Mrs Thurmer . Anyone remember Miss Mahouto our headmistress (probably wrong spelling) I went on to Lourdes Convent afterwards. Now married and live near Milton Keynes.

  • Just seen this page. I was at the school for about a year from 1960. I was friends with Betty Shepherd and remember her sister Rita too. Sad to hear that she died at the level. Does whoever mentioned her above know how old she was when she died?
