Exciting programme of events
This year’s Black History Month sees another exciting programme of culturally diverse events throughout Brighton & Hove for all ages during the month of October. This year the BHM group promises to give the city a taste of live music, visual arts, film, literature, photography, food, debates, workshops – and more.
Focus of Black History Month
Bert Williams, Chair of Brighton Black History and member of Black History Month and Writing Our Legacy says: “We are delighted to be supported doubly by Brighton & Hove City Council, who are funding this year’s Family Day event at Hove Town Hall and the Day of the Dead event at Brighton Dome and Museum – without the Council’s funding, there would be no free major events for people of all ages from across the city and the county to enjoy the many cultures and heritages of BME people living in our region. Many Black History Month groups look to what we are doing in Brighton & Hove as a shining example and we want to help them build up their programmes and get more support for other areas, as they are also doing excellent work, from Worthing, Crawley, Eastbourne and Hastings.”
