Serving sustainable fish

Pupils at Fairlight Primary School in Brighton were celebrating sustainable fish on Friday, after all of the primary and special schools in Brighton & Hove were Marine Stewardship Council certified. This means that the schools will serve MSC certified sustainable fish to pupils.

Fish is good for you

Eating oily fish has been shown to improve cognition and agility in performing mental tasks and school meals guidelines mean it has to be on the menu at least once every three weeks. By serving certified sustainable fish, the Council is ensuring that that they are helping look after the future of the oceans while serving the most sustainable fish to the children today.

Learning how to cook

To celebrate the certification, the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Bill Randall, joined a group of pupils at Fairlight Primary School who had lots of fun learning how to cook some of the new sustainable options with their parents.
