  • Great photo, Catherine, and interesting to see the spelling of what appears to be “Kemptown” on the last line of the sign-writing, as opposed to “Kemp Town”.

  • I live in Sunderland and a friend of mine, John Rafferty, used to visit relatives who owned the Black Rock Bakery and often stayed there for holidays. Does anyone know of any of his relatives who still live in the Brighton area who would like to get in touch please?

  • Catherine, I just Googled ‘Souch Brighton’ and this webpage came up. I’m currently researching my family history and it appears Charles Webster Souch may have been an uncle to my great-grandmother (she was called May Louise Souch and she died in Brighton shortly after my grandfather was born in 1919)?
