A murder mystery for you

If you’ve never visited Preston Manor, you can now get a very good glimpse online. The Royal Pavilion and Museums have made an online recreation of this historic house, and you can explore eight rooms of the manor through 360 degree panoramic photos.

But that’s not all… we have created something that is far more than a simple recreation of Preston Manor. Earlier this year, we invited eleven young writers from the Little Green Pig writing group to create a murder mystery inspired by the house. What you will find online is the manor as visitors see it today, blended with a fictional murder mystery.

Murder in the Manor is an Arts Council funded project, exploring how digital technology can be used to encourage young people to engage with our historic houses and collections. I have written about how the project was made on the Royal Pavilion and Museums’ blog, but the final stage of the project is to understand what our audiences think of it. I’d particularly appreciate the opinion of My Brighton & Hove readers. What do you think of the experience? Do you find it easy to navigate? Have you enjoyed the story written by the young writers? Should museums really be mixing fact and fiction like this?
