The wedding cake bandstand

"This is the bandstand near Hove. I really like this bandstand. All its ironwork is terrific and the top bit looks like a wedding cake. I was looking at this when I first thought of doing Punch and Judy. Unfortunately, the bandstand can't be used any more because they had to knock down the bridge that connected it to the promenade. So now if you wanted to watch a show on it, you'd have to be an expert climber!"

Mike Stone bought one of my paintings of the Bandstand many years ago. His Mr Punch would always complain loudly, as I passed or paused by his show, that it had faded! Now, I shall remember him inside his red & white striped box whenever I pass or pause by this confection. What a lovely monument ! We all miss you, Mike.
