Bond Street
17-18a Bond Street
A family business
Geoff Mead, local historian
17 to 18a Bond Street...this beautiful large building was my grandfather's premises. He had a furniture auctioneer's rooms. They were a big firm; we used to move goods from the Royal Pavilion up to Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace for various royal exhibitions. You can see the industrial doorways - the gantry doorways to allow the goods to be hoisted up. Grandad and Grandma had a flat and (believe it or not) a roof garden above the shop, quite literally.
