Photo:Brighton Tigers Supporters Club: This photograph was taken on Brighton promenade (opposite the Grand Hotel) and shows the Brighton Tigers ice hockey supporters club awaiting transport. The twenty-one members of the club were to make history as one of the first supporters clubs to fly to an away match in 1948. The group includes Mr FA Knowles the Brighton Sports Stadium manager and to the left with the megaphone, Mr Charlie Connell. Charlie was the cheerleader of the Tigers and could be seen at every match encouraging the supporters to urge their team on to greater heights. Familiar in his straw boater and club scarf, Charlie would shout encouragement to the crowd through a large megaphone much to their delight.
