Is the water in front of the photo the boating pool? I recall somehow falling in, as a little girl, while on a Sunday walk with my family! Oops! There was trouble aplenty as I was wearing my Sunday clothes! Don't think today's children know what they are anymore!

No, the water was the childrens paddling pool (now filled in), on the east side of the West Pier

It's definitely the boating pool. You can see Mitre House in the background, also I recognise the slab of concrete that the boats went round. I also, one winter, fell in this boating lake. I was pushing the ice around with a stick and it slipped and I fell in. I had to run all the way home to my house in Waterloo Street.

Just think what fun the kids could have today on the lake. What else is there?

I agree with Wayne, it is the boating pool. I remember as a child in the 1970s enjoying playing on the remote-controlled boats. Think it would have been about 50p a go; anyone else remember those?

It is indeed the boating lake. The chalet with its door open on the right was the mess room of the Council's Parks Department, the one next door to the left being the tool shed. There was plenty of flower beds and putting greens to maintain in those days.
