Where I met my English friends
By Christel, French visitor

"To foreigners, pubs represent England more than Brighton in particular, but for me the Geese is Brighton in particular. The Geese is where I met most of my friends in England. It is situated in a very nice area as well.

I really like the Geese because the full name is 'The Geese Have Gone Over the Water' and for me it's like the 'frog' has gone over the water! I think the Geese sums up exactly what I have in mind when I talk about pubs in Brighton."

Comments:

It was never the same after Chas and Laura left and the Golden Cross became the ''Geese''. My dad, Bill, used to play darts for the Cross. Apparently they had the best team in Brighton around the early 1970s. I left home for a while in the late 70s and lived in the house next door on Southover Street. I could never afford food but always had the price of a pint.
