Great Globe, Carlton Hill

Memories of a now demolished pub
By Martin Nimmo

Not far from the present site of the Amex building there was, until the early 1960's, a pub called the Great Globe. This was demolished to make way for the Edward Street widening, and had a glass world globe hanging outside, as its sign.

Sorry Martin, The Great Globe was in Edward Street not Carlton Hill. The Little Globe is still extant on the opposite side of the road.

Yes, I know it was in Edward Street, but somehow in the re-branding exercise of the website it became transferred to Carlton Hill.
