Kings Road
Victorian postcard: 'Promenading on the sea-front'
By Trevor Chepstow
This Victorian postcard shows the views from the promenade looking East and takes in the building Berkeley Court on the left and the Norfolk Hotel. Both were hotels at the time, although Berkeley Court is now private apartments.
The ornate covered shelter in the foreground is still there and the buildings remain very similar to as they were in Victorian times. Just behind the lady in the wheelchair are the original iron railings that have been recentley reinstated along most of the promenade in Brighton.
