My mother worked in Jill Windmill in the 1920s in her teens.
There are further details on this windmill and on other Sussex Mills at www.sussexmillsgroup.org.uk Jill Windmill, now standing above the village of Clayton was built near Dyke Road, Brighton in 1821 and was transported to Clayton in 1852
Does anyone know what happened to the Gaskin family? They used to live in the railway cottage at the bottom of Mill Hill in Patcham. I went to school with Angela Gaskin when we attended St Mary's Cottesmore. Cars used to speed down the hill and many times Angela and her famly had to deal with accidents - vehicles crashing into the tunnel at the bottom of Mill Hill. It was well known as an accident blackspot! My name then was Una Mitchell.
