A musty-smelling haven
On the North side in the 1960’s used to be Bredon’s second-hand bookshop, I think where a pizza restaurant is now. This was a musty-smelling haven from the busy streets, where I used as a schoolboy to seek out bargains (some of which I still have today) including First World War trench maps and some of the extensive library of SPB Mais, the local rambler and historian. The lady in charge also kept me old tram and bus tickets once used as bookmarks, which she occasionally found.
