We are looking forward to checking it out when the smoking ban comes in.

I have just discovered that my great great great Aunt’s husband, William Stevens, was the publican in 1871. Previously they lived opposite the pub at No.6 Surrey Street.

Recently had the pleasure of using this excellent pub on my first trip back to Brighton in five years (I live overseas) and can highly recommend it. Excellent range of real ales, good tea and coffee for those who need it, and not a gaming machine, background ‘music’ or an alcopop (or an alcopop drinker) in sight.
