Over elaborate Victorian restoration

All Saints Parish Church was originally Norman but suffered from over-elaborate restoration at the hands of the Victorians. The exterior was plastered and an addition was made on the North side. The interior is less spoilt.

Much of the land to the East of the churchyard on the other side of the hill is a cemetery.

I was Christened here in May 1938 by the Rev Stott, the sides man was William Baird who became my Godfather. My Father Ebenezer Charles Snelling was buried in 1964 between the wall and the tower as is my Godfather and the organist. My Mother Celia lived on for another 42 years and was buried in the same grave in 2006.
