Notes on creating Encyclopaedia of Brighton entries
By Jack Latimer

The notes below are work-in-progress towards establishing a set of editorial guidelines for publishing entries from the Encyclopaedia of Brighton on this site.

1. Always create the pages under the log-in of carder.

2. For titles and sub-titles, follow MyBH conventions, using Tim Carder's section title as a starting-point. That is:

- Title = MyBH category
- Sub-title = take Tim Carder's section title as a starting-point, max 7 words, mention page type (i.e. history), mention date if possible

3. In the credit field, paste in the following text and link:

Reproduced with permission from the Encyclopaedia of Brighton by Tim Carder, 1990

4. Insert the following text at the beginning of the piece:

Please note that this text is an extract from a reference work written in 1990.  As a result, some of the content may not reflect recent research, changes and events.

5. Keep in any numerical references to sources and bibliography. Add at the foot of the page the following text:

Any numerical cross-references in the text above refer to resources in the Sources and Bibliography section of the Encyclopaedia of Brighton by Tim Carder.

6. If the text includes a reference to an entry in Tim Carder that we haven't already published, because it's further ahead in the alphabet, then we will jump ahead of oursevles and create that later entry - so we have something to link to.  We then need to make a note to ourselves that the later entry has been created.
