• This photo brings back many memories – Cannon Street was a nice place to live. Sad to see some of the houses had already been demolished when this photo was taken – our house is the one on the right, next to A.M. Sims’s shop. Happy memories and many thanks.

• I know something of the Martin Family of 22 Cannon Street in 1910/1911 – but their other surname was Bonnot, although showing as ‘Martin’ on the census for reasons unknown! • I understand this street was formerly known as Suffolk Place.  Ancestors of mine (Greenfields) lived here at the time of the 1841 and 1851 census.

• I’m fairly certain that one of the two ladies in the photo is Mrs Brooks, who lived next door to me. I lived at number 6.

• Paul Lynn – I have only just seen your comment on Cannon Street.
  I remember Mrs. Brooks – she was the Grandmother of Terry and Pat Cocklin – with whom they lived.
  I knew you too – we all played together.
  I lived opposite you – next door to A.M. Sims shop.

• My Great grandfather, Thomas Killner and my grandfather Alexander Killner lived at 37 Cannon Street in 1921 according to the 1921 Census. Interesting to see the actual type of now demolished houses.

• Andy Tomsett, must share the same ancestors. William Greenfield, interested to know if you have any further info on Edwin Greenfield born 1844 in Petworth, he seems to have disappeared without trace on ancestry after his wife died in 1870.
