Blackman Street, 21 January 1959: This is a photographic print of Blackman Street, Brighton. It is a view of the west side of the street, looking north. Hudson's furniture store is visible behind the houses. This photograph was commissioned by the Environmental Health department of Brighton Borough Council. It formed part of a visual record of areas considered for slum clearance. Blackman Street was acquired by the Council under a Compulsory Purchase order in 1959. These houses were demolished in 1962.
