A great shop: an independent specialising in new soul releases. It opened in about 1978 and kept going for a handful of years.  I spent many hours within and can still clearly picture buying some cherished records from here.

  • I worked there from 1984-1987 when the shop was Wear and Tear, a clothes repair shop. It was my first job after leaving school. We made clothes for some of the designers in the area and I remember some famous people ended up wearing the clothes we’d made. I remember seeing Billy Connelly on the TV wearing a shirt that I’d helped to make. I got to know many of the local shop keepers. It had a lovely communtiy spirit in the North Laine. I remember the barbers next door to this which is still there and also David’s book shop across the road as well as the leather shop further along from here.
