A Royal visit to Brighton
By Jennifer Drury
His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester visited the city today to officially open Patching Lodge, a £13.6 million seven-storey retirement development in Park Street, Queen’s Park. Patching Lodge is managed by Hanover in partnership with Brighton and Hove City Council. It replaced an old development that was in need of significant investment.
Independent living
The development provides housing for independent older people who may need help and support on a regular basis. There are seventy six apartments, nine of which are fully wheelchair accessible; residents have access to a twenty-four hour emergency response service. Residents at Patching Lodge can live as independently as they want, and yet have the reassurance of back up care should it be needed.
