Memories of a now demolished pub

Not far from the present site of the Amex building there was, until the early 1960’s, a pub called the Great Globe. This was demolished to make way for the Edward Street widening, and had a glass world globe hanging outside, as its sign.

  • Sorry Martin, The Great Globe was in Edward Street not Carlton Hill. The Little Globe is still extant on the opposite side of the road.

  • Yes, I know it was in Edward Street, but somehow in the re-branding exercise of the website it became transferred to Carlton Hill.
