Boeing 767 named 'City of Brighton and Hove'

'The City of Brighton and Hove' is ready to take to the skies

Zoom Airlines’ additional aircraft a Boeing 767 was officially named ‘The City of Brighton & Hove’ this week when the aircraft was unveiled by the Mayor of the City of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Garry Peltzer Dunn. Zoom conducted a company wide survey asking which UK city they wished the aircraft to be named after. The vote resulted in the City of Brighton & Hove being chosen, no doubt because many of Zoom’s staff live in the area!

Official naming ceremony
Speaking at the official naming ceremony, Jonathan Hinkles, Managing Director of Zoom Airlines said: “It is a great honour to welcome the Mayor of the City of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Garry Peltzer Dunn to Gatwick today and officially endorse our new aircraft. Brighton and Hove was granted city status in 2000 and it is fitting that our youthful airline is the first ever to have an aircraft named after this young city that shares a common goal with us in achieving overseas success.”

A great accolade
The Mayor of the City of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Garry Peltzer Dunn said: “It’s a great accolade to have an aircraft named in the city’s honour. I’m hoping it helps spread the good name of Brighton & Hove far and wide to people in North America and Canada and elsewhere, as well as encouraging them to visit us one day.”

The naming ceremony received full council support with the Right Worshipful Mayor of the City of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Garry Peltzer Dunn, Councillor Mary Mears, Leader of the Council and additional council members.
