Diary of Mark Bracewell
From: Letter in the AtticThe daily diary of a Brighton resident, with entries of varying lengths, written throughout most of 2001. Towards the end of the diary, in the “notes” section, the author has recorded thoughts and reflections of 2001, and future plans. The diary covers the day-to-day life of the author and acts as a kind of confidante to the author: many of the articles are very personal. The first diary entry details a major argument with his ex-girlfriend and the “life-changing” impact this had. A few weeks later, he meets a new girlfriend and throughout the rest of the year he records how their relationship develops. Some highlights include them moving in with each other and becoming engaged in April, starting new jobs, buying a car, meeting family members and friends and the occasional disagreement. A number of entries also refer to the couple’s sex life. The author was a member of a historical re-enactment group, so there are references to him making his kit, as well as attending battles on some weekends.
