£30,000 raised last year
The ‘Paddle round the Pier’ event has been running since 1996 and last year raised over £30,000. This weekend it returned to a rather soggy Hove Lawns and the neighbouring beach. Luckily the torrential rain we have had recently kept off and record crowds enjoyed the event.
Run by volunteers
The main aim of the event is to raise as much money as possible for three charities; this year they are the RNLI, Winston’s Wish and Surf Aid. The event is run by volunteers and couldn’t exist without the support of them, plus a huge range of businesses plus individuals from Brighton and beyond.

The Lansdowne Place Hotel ‘Wedding on the Water’ craft that we entered for the Paddle Round the Pier event. We spent most of the race under water but it was a great day!
