At a recent full council meeting at Hove Town Hall, the Brighton and Hove Armed Forces Community Covenant was signed in the presence of the meeting. This covenant is intended to encourage local communities to support the armed forces community in their areas nurture public understanding and awareness among the public of issues affecting the armed forces community. Its aim is also to encourage the armed forces community to help and support the wider community, whether through participation in events and joint projects, or other forms of engagement.
The signatories of the covenant were:
- Councillor Bill Randall, Mayor of the City of Brighton & Hove
- Brigadier Simon Wolsey OBE on behalf of the Armed Forces
- Penny Thompson CBE, Chief Executive Brighton & Hove City Council
- Les Coppard, County Chairman Royal British Legion
