Chinese New Year 2017

 The year of the Rooster

The celebration of the Chinese New Year at The Clarendon Centre has become one of Brighton’s premier cross-cultural celebrations, which this year was attended by the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex Peter Field, and the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Pete West. The colourful stage performances are always the focus of the day. It is an opportunity to experience some hands on Chinese activities including: calligraphy, painting, dragon lantern making and much more. Chinese food, information and accessories stalls are always available throughout the event.

Ushering in the new year

Going from the old year and ushering into the new year, giving the best wishes to colleagues, relatives and friends – bringing everyone together is the most important thing in Chinese culture. The celebration for Spring Festival all stems from a simple wish of togetherness. As the old Chinese saying goes “One will more than ever, miss their distance.”
