The Brighton Angel

Pheonix rising

This month saw the appearance of the latest addition to the unique street art scene in the North Laine area. Well known classically trained artist, Cosmo Sarson’s latest piece, is displayed on the side of a three-storey building in Regent Road.

Redolent of the classic imagery of a phoenix rising from the ashes, the Brighton Angel represents the power of human resilience to rise above hard times and look with hope to the future. The artist also acknowledges that his scantily clad angel respectfully pays tribute to the Peace Statue at Hove Lawns.

  • A splendid work of art. It would look even better if the adjacent graffiti, top left, could be whited out.
