Brighton Thai Festival

A taste of colourful Thai culture

This weekend the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Brian Fitch and the Mayoress, Mrs Norah Fitch were treated to a taste of colourful Thai culture at the Brighton Thai Festival in Preston Park. The festival ran over two days and started with the traditional offering of food to Buddhist monks. Then the entertainment from ‘the land of smiles’ began.

Interesting and colourful

Traditional music and dancing, a Ladyboy show, cooking demonstrations, traditional Thai massage, delicious Thai food and beer, and Muay Thai boxing were just a few of the array of interesting and colourful things to see and do. There were stalls offering Thai produce and crafts, a children’s fashion show and even an eating competition.

  • What a wonderful festival – let’s hope this celebration of all things Thai is just the first.  From talking to many who attended the consulate stalls were particularly appreciated to deal with queries and problems. So many and varied arts and craft work were on display one weekend was hardly enough!!!!!
