Video: A lockdown cycle ride to Brighton seafront

Gravel Bike Lockdown Ride on Brighton Seafront, by the Muddy Cyclist, May 2020
Still in lockdown and recovering from a cold I take my Boardman ADV gravel bike into Brighton in Sussex, England. I visit an empty beach & seafront before heading home, taking in as much gravel as possible.

In this atmospheric video of the city under lockdown at the start of May 2020, Patrick Moorhead cycles through deserted Brighton shopping streets to the seafront, and then along Madeira Drive, which had been closed to traffic to encourage exercise. He then rides up onto the Downs, following Drove Road in Woodingdean, and ends up in Stanmer Park.

This is how Patrick describes himself:

Patrick Moorhead, The Muddy Cyclist

“Hi, my name is Patrick Moorhead and after moving to Brighton over 30 years ago, I knew I would never leave.  Just love the vibe of the city and also its close proximity to the beautiful South Downs National Park.

About 15 years ago I started mountain biking and really got the cycling bug. About 2 years ago I decided to start a YouTube channel as wanted to feature the great riding there is in the Sussex area and beyond. Started the channel in the winter so called myself The Muddy Cyclist, seemed appropriate at the time.

So please check out my Muddy Cyclist channel on YouTube and I’ll see you up on the Downs.”
