I remember that 7th Brighton Scouts had a monthly church parade at Stanford Avenue Methodist Church, but these photographs were for special parades which marched through the town for either St George’s Day or for Armistice Day.

Do you recognise yourself or anyone else here. If you can share any memories with us, please leave a comment below.

The first photo, taken on 11 November 1962, shows David Hunt leading, with standard bearer Vic Wright, flanked by Peter Whitcomb and Nigel Parsonage. Behind are Sam Lewis, Martin Stanistreet and John Bignell.

The Colour Party is outside Stanford Avenue Methodist Church and taken in 1962. Peter Whitcomb carries the flag, with Vic Wright and John Bignell.

The lower photos show Len ‘Skip’ Carr leading the troop. John Burt is the flag bearer, either side Peter Whitcomb and Vic Wright. Behind are Nigel Parsonage, Peter Ansell, John Bignell, Peter Wright, Jack Watson and Steve Waller.

  • Was good to see the pic placed of the time Hayden Carr was troup leader. I was in the same group with Alan Morgan, Muff Potter, Johnny Lyle, Keith Brown the Merringtons and others.
