The Evening Argus girls c1960s

Does anybody recognise themselves in this 1960’s photograph taken in Preston Park during the Brighton Carnival?

The photo was entered in an Evening Argus competition which asked for a group photograph of ‘The Evening Argus Girls’.

My photograph won me a prize which if I remember correctly included a roll of film.

If you recognise yourself or anyone else – please post a comment below.

  • I think the girl on the right (next to the “G”) may be Margaret Wright. She lived in Olive Road, Hove and is pictured in my Knoll Infants School picture from c1954.

  • I went to school in the 70s with a lad and his mum was an Argus girl. The lady on the far left looks like his mum. Their surname was Fallbrown.

  • My classmate, Valerie Garnham, was an Evening Argus Girl in about 1966. Does anyone have a photo of her at that time?

  • The girl on the far left was my wife Jasmine Baker, formally Jasmine Freeman. She was one of the original Argus Girls. I have other photographs of the Argus Girls.
