My grandfather George Hessey played for Brighton Cricket Club in the 1890s. He was the licensee of the Pelham Arms at 38 Russel Street and died before my father was born in 1903. My father George Hugh was lost in the Mediterranean during the evacuation of Crete. I have no record or photo of my grandfather and wonder whether Sussex cricket club have photos or records of players of that era.
Would like to see Jim Parks (both players) acknowledged as they gave good service to the county and England and were Sussex people. I can remember them both helping many an aspiring young cricketer in Sussex with coaching at the county ground nets.
