Place of peace and tranquility
This little church was a familiar place for deaf pupils from Ovingdean Hall School for deaf children every Sunday. It is a beautiful place of peace and tranquility. I was made an altar boy back in the 1970s. I performed in the nativity play in the St Wulfran’s. I always used to set up the hearing loop for Sunday service. After church, we used to meet in the little church hall for hot rolls and tea and proper butter.

Visiting the graves
We used to walk amongst the grave stones in the peaceful garden and stop at a lone small grave of a young boy, and sit in quiet along side him, and talk and sometimes leave flowers. I have been back many times over the years and still visit the Church. It’s a place I find the peace in life to think and work things out; something I have never been able to do elsewhere. You can feel a continuity with the past; it is a very special place.
