  • In the 1950s/60s I was at Stanford Infants/Juniors and Brighton & Hove Grammar; I knew the Port Hall area well as we lived down the hill in Dyke Rd Drive. In the late 20th century the distinguished actor Lockwood West lived there, he was in many films and TV programmes and frequently in BBC radio plays. His son is the actor Timothy West married to Prunella Scales, and Lockwood’s grandson is the actor Samuel West. he died in Brighton. Many years ago Mrs West contacted me about the history of her house and I now regret now that I did not follow that query up with a visit to the house.
